FOSA
Every member of the school and every parent is automatically a member of FOSA (Friends of St Andrews), and everyone is welcome to be involved as little or as much as suits them.
FOSA is run by an elected committee. The chair, vice chair, treasurer and secretary all work alongside a group of parents who make up the rest of the committee. They meet on a regular basis and discuss future events and relevant issues brought to them by other members of the school. In consultation with staff, decisions are made regarding various purchases for the school.
There is also a sub-committee of children from the top school year and they are known as Junior FOSA. They get involved in events as appropriate such as the fireworks evening, Christmas fair and fun day.
One of FOSA’ s roles is to help the parents, children and siblings become part of the St Andrew’s family. This is primarily achieved by running a number of social events. For example during the Autumn term we have held Quiz Nights which are very well attended. We also organise a fabulous fireworks evening, a ladies lunch and a Christmas fair.
During the Spring Term there is a childrens’ entertainment event and an Easter egg hunt for the very youngest children.
Traditionally the Summer Term is very busy and our main event is the fun day, which is just what it says. The whole family is involved and a great time is had by all at school on a Saturday afternoon.
The aim of our events are twofold. One is friendship and fun and the other aspect is fundraising. Many purchases have been made in recent years, to enhance teaching, learning and activities. A donation to a selected charity is also made each year.
