Biathlon Success at Southern Championships
A team of 15 boys and girls participated in the Southern Schools Biathlon Championships at Aldershot. We had some fantastic results and four boys were awarded medals for coming in the top three in their age groups.
From our team the following were awarded medals:
Year 6 boys: Robert Thatcher 3rd
Year 5 boys: Daniel McNamara 1st and Daniel Ussi 2nd
Year 4 boys: Fraser Woodward 2nd
These results are entered into a national ranking system and the top 60 in the country will be selected to compete in one of the semi-final events, leading to the National Finals in March.
The Schools' Modern Biathlon (swim-run) comprises a 50m swim and 500m run for Year 5 to Year 7 pupils and a 100m swim and 1000m run for Years 8 to 12/13. Points are awarded for each discipline and final positions are decided by the total number of points achieved after both disciplines.
