Duchess of Cambridge visits St Andrew's School
St Andrew's Day was a very special day for St Andrew's School. The Duchess of Cambridge came to visit her old school and open the newly-constructed Astroturf.
Her Royal Highness was greeted by the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire before the Heads of School invited her to a special St Andrew's Day lunch. After lunch The Duchess of Cambridge met some of her teachers and then visited the Pre-Prep where she was entertained by the children singing and dancing.
At the opening of the new pitch, The Duchess said, "It was while I was here at school that I realised my love of sport. Sport has been a huge part of my life, and I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunities I had to get outside and play in such wonderful open spaces.."
After the official opening the Duchess toured the school and joined the boys and girls in their traditional St Andrew's Day 'Progressive Games' where the staff and pupils play a wide range of short games throughout the afternoon.
