Statutory Notices
Exclusion
Termination by the School of a pupil's membership is at the sole discretion of the Headmaster and will occur when the Headmaster considers it no longer in either the School's interest or the pupil's interest that the pupil remain at the school. Appropriate notice will normally be given but a pupil may be excluded without notice if circumstances make it necessary to do so. Such termination of the parents' contract shall be without prejudice to any obligation in respect of payment to the School of fees which have accrued prior to the termination.
Pupils with English as a Second Language
Pupils whose first language is not English and whose English is limited, such as those who are welcomed occasionally as exchange students for brief periods in the school are accommodated as guests of the Modern Language Department. All steps are taken to ensure that they fully understand school rules and safety procedures, and they are mentored by a teacher who is fluent in their first language. In a rural school whose cultural mix is not broad, these visitors enhance our society.
Discipline
The school is responsible for the discipline of the pupil at all times during which the pupil is on school premises or engaged in school activities. Parents are responsible for the pupil's discipline at all other times. The parents and the school will liaise with each other on all matters of discipline keeping each other fully informed of all matters that will assist the other in its disciplinary role.
The school will not use corporal punishment but the Parents specifically authorise the School to use appropriate physical restraint or other physical acts where such acts are necessary in the best interests of the pupil or other members of the school including pupils.
